My husband started to smell really bad\u2026 I mean, REEK.<\/div>\n

I made an appointment for him with the urologist and decided to go with him for support. He went into the doctor\u2019s office and the doctor closed the door.<\/p>\n

Five minutes later, the doctor comes out and his face turns red when he sees me. Doc (barely holding back laughter): You might want to go in and see for yourself. Me: \u2018Doctor, what\u2019s going on? Why are you laughing?\u2019 Then my husband comes out. He: Honey\u2026 I\u2019m not sure how to say this\u2026 But I\u2026<\/p>\n

I made an appointment for him with the urologist and decided to go with him for support. He went into the doctor\u2019s office, and the door closed behind him. Five minutes later, the doctor came out, his face bright red, barely holding back laughter.<\/p>\n

\u201cDoc,\u201d I asked, confused, \u201cWhat\u2019s going on? Why are you laughing?\u201d<\/p>\n

He shook his head, waving a hand. \u201cYou\u2026 you might want to go in and see for yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n

I walked into the room, my heart pounding, expecting the worst. But then my husband came out, his face crimson, avoiding my gaze.<\/p>\n

He scratched the back of his neck, his voice small. \u201cHoney\u2026 I don\u2019t know how to say this\u2026 But I\u2026\u00a0I had a sock stuck in my underwear.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n

I blinked. \u201cA\u2026 sock?\u201d<\/p>\n

He looked at the floor, his face burning with embarrassment. \u201cYeah\u2026 I must have left it in the laundry pile. It got stuck in there somehow, and I\u2019ve been walking around with it\u2026 for days. It\u2026 it started to smell.\u201d<\/p>\n

I felt my jaw drop. \u201cYou\u2019ve been walking around with a dirty sock in your underwear?\u00a0For DAYS?<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n

He looked utterly defeated. \u201cI didn\u2019t realize it was there. I thought something was wrong. I thought I was sick. But\u2026 nope. Just\u2026 a sock.\u201d<\/p>\n

I stared at him, my mouth hanging open, and then it hit me. The absurdity of it all. The reason for the horrible smell. The embarrassment of him confessing this to a urologist.<\/p>\n

I started laughing. I laughed so hard I had to lean against the wall for support. Tears streamed down my face, my stomach cramping from the sheer hilarity of it all.<\/p>\n

He looked up, his face half-annoyed, half-relieved. \u201cIt\u2019s not that funny.\u201d<\/p>\n

I gasped, trying to breathe. \u201cOh, it is. It really, really is.\u201d<\/p>\n

He grumbled, crossing his arms. \u201cWell, at least I\u2019m not dying.\u201d<\/p>\n

I hugged him, still laughing. \u201cNo, but I might. From laughing too hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

He finally cracked a smile, shaking his head. \u201cThis is never leaving the family group chat, is it?\u201d<\/p>\n

I grinned, wiping away my tears. \u201cOh, honey\u2026 this is legendary.\u00a0This is going to be our grandkids\u2019 favorite story.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n

The Aftermath<\/strong><\/h3>\n

We walked out of the doctor\u2019s office, his head hanging low, his face still red. The receptionist tried to keep a straight face as we checked out, but I could see her shoulders shaking with suppressed laughter.<\/p>\n

In the car, he sighed. \u201cI\u2019m never living this down.\u201d<\/p>\n

I patted his shoulder, still giggling. \u201cNope. But hey, at least you\u2019re healthy. And now you know\u2026 to check for stray socks.\u201d<\/p>\n

He groaned, burying his face in his hands. \u201cI\u2019ll never look at laundry the same way again.\u201d<\/p>\n

I leaned over and kissed his cheek. \u201cI love you. Sock and all.\u201d<\/p>\n

He looked at me, his eyes softening. \u201cI love you too. Even if you\u2019re going to tell everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

I grinned. \u201cOh, you better believe I\u2019m telling everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

And I did.<\/p>\n
