Authorities detain individual for questioning in connection with Nancy Guthrie\u2019s abduction<\/h1>\n

RIO RICO, Arizona \u2014 A person of interest has been detained for questioning in\u00a0connection with the abduction of Nancy Guthrie, according to sources and the Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

The man, who has not yet been identified, was pulled over in Rio Rico by Pima County sheriff\u2019s deputies who had been trailing him, law enforcement sources told The Post.<\/p>\n

The sheriff\u2019s office said the individual is being questioned about Nancy\u2019s disappearance and authorities are searching his home in Rio Rico, a tiny border community roughly 60 miles south of Tucson.<\/p>\n

The individual doesn\u2019t appear to be a member of the Guhtrie family, according to TMZ, and hasn\u2019t been called a suspect.<\/p>\n

FBI Director\u00a0Kash Patel confirmed\u00a0that federal investigators are probing \u201cpersons of interest\u201d during an appearance on Fox News Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

\u201cWithout polluting the investigation, I will say we have made substantial progress in these last 36-48 hours, thanks to the technical capabilities of the FBI and our partnerships and I do believe we are looking at people who, as we say, are persons of interest,\u201d Patel said.The development follows the release of\u00a0video and\u00a0several images of\u00a0an armed,\u00a0masked kidnapper\u00a0at the doorstep of the 84-year-old mother of \u201cToday\u201d show host\u00a0Savannah Guthrie.<\/p>\n

Patel credited the footage as a break-through in the case coming 10 days into the frantic search for Nancy, who remains missing.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot only were we able to get this type of information [Ring doorbell footage], but we were able to exploit information pursuant to our private sector partner engagement that showed us that there might be persons of interest in and around the area related to this event,\u201d he told Fox News\u2019 Sean Hannity.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith any investigation, you are a person of interest until you\u2019re either eliminated or you\u2019re actually found to be the culprit or the culprits involved, and that\u2019s the stage we\u2019re at right now,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Despite the promising development, Patel remained cautiously optimistic, saying he didn\u2019t want to give the public \u201ca falase hope.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe FBI\u00a0is making advancements, and I don\u2019t want the people out there to have a false hope of what we are putting forward, but we have made significant steps in executing this investigation,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not immediately clear if authorities have determined whether Nancy is alive or unharmed.<\/p>\n

The major development comes more than a week after she vanished.
