In an interview on Diary of a CEO, Mia Khalifa reflected on her brief time in the adult-film industry, saying she felt “used like a toy” during a period when she was especially vulnerable.

She explained that at around 20 years old, she lacked confidence, was easily influenced, and entered the industry while searching for validation.

Khalifa also said her partner at the time encouraged and pushed her into situations she now recognizes as exploitative, describing the dynamic as being treated like an object rather than a person.

Her rapid rise to fame came in late 2014 after a controversial video involving her wearing a hijab went viral, even though her involvement in the industry lasted only a few months and included a limited number of scenes.

The backlash was severe, including death threats, family estrangement, and long-term consequences tied to the permanence of online content.

Looking back, she has said that while she technically signed contracts, she didn’t fully understand their implications and believes her inexperience was taken advantage of.

Khalifa’s reflections have since become part of a broader conversation about how the adult industry can exploit young and insecure individuals who may not fully grasp the lifelong social and emotional impact of their decisions.

By saying she was “used like a toy,” she highlights the psychological toll — including shame, regret, harassment, and loss of control over one’s image — and her story is often referenced in discussions about consent, manipulation, and ethical responsibility within adult content production.
