Trump departed on Air Force One late on Oct. 24 for a trip to Asia spanning several days amid the federal government shutdown.
The first part of the Asia tour has Trump arriving in Malaysia, before continuing onto Japan and South Korea.
As he left the White House for Asia, Trump has said he plans to meet with China President Xi Jinping during the trip, saying as he left the White House that he “had a lot of respect for Taiwan” and added that he planned to talk about former Hong Kong newspaper editor Jimmy Lai with Xi.
