12‑year‑old Maya Gebala from Tumbler Ridge is fighting for her life at BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver after being seriously injured in this week’s shocking attack.

Young Maya was struck in the head and neck and is showing incredible courage, but her journey is far from over. Her mother, Cia Edmonds, has been by her side through every terrifying moment, living through hours no parent should ever face.

“We were told that the damage to her brain was too severe for her to survive… My baby needs a miracle,” Cia shared. On Wednesday afternoon, she added, “We were warned that the damage to her brain was too much for her to endure, and she wouldn’t make the night.” Her words lay bare the unbearable reality of a mother’s fear, but also her unwavering hope.

What should have been an ordinary day turned into a nightmare no family should endure. Now, each minute is filled with hope, love, and the strength to keep believing in better days.

To help with the overwhelming medical and day‑to‑day burdens, a GoFundMe page has been set up for Maya’s family during this unimaginable ordeal.

🙏 Our thoughts, prayers, and support are with Maya, her family, and all the victims and loved ones affected.
